Education and Surgical Training
Dr. Perry graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers College with high distinction in zoology. He earned his medical degree with distinction in research from the Albany Medical College of Union University in 1981. He was honored to train in general surgery at Harvard Medical Schools Beth Israel Hospital, in burn surgery at New York Presbyterian/Cornell Medical Center, and in plastic surgery at the University of Chicago. As Chief Resident in 1987, he trained under the legendary plastic surgeon, Dr. Thomas J. Krizek. He then specialized in cosmetic plastic surgery with a fellowship with Drs. Baker, Gordon, and Stuzin (the inventors of the chemical peel) in Miami.
Dr. Perry is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Aesthetic Society, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Medical Society of the State of New York and the New York County Medical Society. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc.
Clinical Practice
Dr. Perry specializes in facial rejuvenation, performing facelifts, eyelid and brow lifts, neck and jowls liposuction, and the entire spectrum of noninvasive procedures like Botox and the creative use of fillers. He also performs many rhinoplasties, ear reshaping procedures and chin implants. He has published scientific papers on neck liposuction, breast cosmetic surgery, and liposuction.
At his 1021 Park Avenue office, he performs the most sophisticated laser procedures to reduce wrinkles, brown and red spots, hair and black and blue tattoos. He performs minor surgery there as well as his Somerset, New Jersey offices. Larger procedures are performed at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospitals in New York, and several accredited surgical centers in both States.
Teaching
After completing his residency, Dr. Perry joined the full-time faculty at Rutgers Medical School. He continues to teach medical students and residents as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at Columbia University School of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Rutgers. He was recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Plastic Surgery at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in Manhattan, NY. For 14 years, he taught aesthetic plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, holding the rank of Clinical Associate.
Research
Dr. Perry has contributed extensively to medical literature, presenting original research on liposuction at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons meeting and publishing in journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He has authored chapters in medical textbooks and received five patents for his innovative skincare products.
Author
Dr. Perry has authored four books: "Are You Considering Cosmetic Surgery" (1997), "Straight Talk about Cosmetic Surgery" (2007), which received Foreword Magazine’s Gold Award for the top health book of 2007, "You – Being Beautiful" (2008), a New York Times bestseller co-authored with Drs. Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz, and "Real Life of a Surgeon" (2009). His latest book on facial cosmetic procedures is expected in 2027.
Government Regulator
Appointed by Governor Christine Whitman, Dr. Perry served over a decade on the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, including roles as Treasurer and Executive Committee member. He chaired committees on advertising and mesotherapy and was a special designee to the Department of Health for bioterrorism issues post-9/11. He was instrumental in writing ground breaking rules regulating in office operating rooms in New Jersey as well as the rules regulating tattooing, piercing, and electrolysis.
Chief of Plastic Surgery
From 2003 to 2005, Dr. Perry was Chief of Plastic Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – Somerset Campus, overseeing the division of plastic surgery.
Awards
Dr. Perry is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, receiving the "FACS" honor, and has been listed in "Top Doctors in the New York Area" for 27 consecutive years by Castle Connolly. He has been listed in the Top Doctors honor in both New York and New Jersey Magazines. He has been featured in the nation's top cosmetic doctors book and recognized in New Jersey Life magazine's Top New Jersey Doctors. He has received awards for his clinical work, his research, and his writing. In 2024, he received the Medical Honoree award from the American Cancer Society for his contributions to reconstructive surgery and to the Society.

Dr. Perry has hosted "What's Your Wrinkle" on WOR radio since 2005 and co-hosted "You the Owners Manual Radio Show" with Dr. Michael Roizen. His podcast, "Straight Talk about Cosmetic Surgery" is the longest running plastic surgery podcast in the world, and can be heard on Apple Podcasts. He has appeared on "The Dr. Oz Television Show" 11 times, discussing various topics, including performing live procedures. He has also been featured on Oprah Winfrey, the Tamron Hall Show and The Red Table Talk Show with Jada Smith amongst others.
Medical Advisor & Expert
Dr. Perry served as the cosmetic surgery columnist for YouBeauty.com and was a member of The Dr. Oz Show Medical Advisory Board. He has contributed to Oprah.com and other websites on cosmetic surgery topics.
Skin Care Line
Dr. Perry developed a successful line of skincare products for New Vitality, including NightSkin, DaySkin, Natural Block, and SoftSkin. In 2012, he launched his own company, Dr. Perry's, offering products like NightThyme, DayThyme, SoftThyme, and CleanThyme. His skincare line has been featured on the Home Shopping Network (HSN).
